It’s friday and you all know what that means. This week, polyamide is reclaiming its crown for all featured designs. Enjoy!
Recently, the first Drone Games competition was hosted at the Groupon San Francisco offices. Drone Games is a NodeCopter-Style programming competition powered by drones and JavaScript. Hackers will receive one Parrot AR Drone 2.0 so they can work on their project. The day of the Games, hackers will get a chance to present their work to other attendees and judges. Winners and runner ups received some really cool 3D printed medals, designed in Tinkercad by Pekka Salokannel.

Meet the designer: Dizingof
He is probably one the most well-known 3D designers in the 3D community and made Thingiverse his second home with more than 160 free 3D designs. Now it’s time to meet the man behind Dizingof: Asher Nahmias from Tel-Aviv, Israel.
When did you start being interested in design?
Asher Nahmias: «Basically I’m self-thought. I’ve started learning design around September 2009 when I run into a Dutch start up that offered a 3d printing service. It seemed very exciting to learn how to transform ideas and concepts into real objects. I published some of my concepts on my Youtube channel – back then they were mainly ‘cool’ accessories for iDevices.»
«I then moved to learning every piece of 3d tool/software that I could find and practically did R&D into anything 3D.. surfaces, meshes construction and augmentation etc..
I had this notion that once I have the knowledge to master mesh creation and surface manipulation I could probably design anything I set my mind to or when creativity juices

.MGX is excited to announce that an extensive selection of award-winning .MGX pieces is on display in China as part of the IndustrialRevolution.MGX exhibition at Shanghai’s celebrated 1933 building. The exhibition, which will last a period of 6 months, was created in response to the increasing interest in .MGX products in Asia, and will be the largest display of .MGX pieces ever shown in the region. The exhibition focuses on influential 3D creations, particularly pieces known for their power to inspire.

High Detailed Stainless Steel: it’s all in the details!
For more than two months now, people are testing our high detailed stainless steel. The results are ashtonishing and the feedback is very positive. Read the guidelines from the designers and get inspired to try it out yourself!
High detailed stainless steel can be situated between silver and titanium. Designers use the material for jewelry or other designs which ask for very small details.
KNITTING
Ras Leaudevie, a Belgian designer, got inspired by knitting knobs. His design is full of symbolism and looks really fancy on knitting needles.
If you’re looking for needles 2.0, this must be the perfect pair. Leaudevie: “You can’t compare it with other materials, the details are amazing. The only thing you need to count in from the beginning, as for other metals, is the shrinkage allowance.” So always make sure you read the design guide before going wild with your design.

Happy Friday! The holidays are getting closer and the gallery is getting more colorful: check out the newest designs.
The first design we want to show you is from George Hlavacs. He designed the Higgs Boson Necklace in gold plated and polished brass. Hlavacs: ‘Wearing this beautiful jewelry will not only make you feel more attractive. It is also a a statement to trigger people to pay attention to small fascinating things which are invisible to our eyes, but determine our life so fundamentally. The picture you see is not a render, but the real product. This production technique is just unbelievable accurate.”
We love the colors Mark Bloomfield uses for his designs. This time he designed some Flower Machine Charms in polyamide: all the flowers can spin, so it’s perfect for some 21st century stress relief!

It’s always hard to look for some nice glasses, but now people can customize and 3D print them to find that desired look. Pekka Salokannel (Technical Artist at Tinkercad) took the lead and put his 3D printed glasses online. (more…)
Tweak it, build it: unique 3D printed trophies by Twikit
Enough with the generic, uninspired metal medals. Three friends, Martijn, Gijs and Georges, just introduced their company Twikit. Winning will now be even sweeter thanks to their 3D printed personalized trophies.
Winning is great.
