3D Printing and Robotics Combined in a Life-like Spider
I was already a big fan of the T-800, T-850 and the liquid metal shape-shifting T-1000. But last week, I bumped into the T8. This one is not a Terminator, but a bio-inspired high resolution 3D printed spider that uses a total of 26 servo motors, and it’s powered by the Bigfoot™ Inverse Kinematics Engine. Believe me, it has written ‘WANT’ all over it.

Iris van Herpen presents her Wilderness Embodied Collection
Last week, Iris van Herpen unveiled her Wilderness Embodied Collection to great acclaim in the impressive entry hall of the Palais de la Découverte in Paris. As the show was held in a building which celebrates scientific progress of all kinds, it is fitting that the Dutch designer yet again explored new terrain in 3D printing by creating her very first hybrid dress.

First Asian 3D Print Fashion Show
In Malaysia, Materialise recently collaborated with Melinda Looi, an internationally acclaimed fashion designer, for Asia’s first 3D Print Fashion Show. Last Friday, the fashion show took place in 21st century metropolis that is Kuala Lumpur.

Dot San wants to see if it’s possible to become a digital design nomad by connecting to the internet anywhere and still deliver a quality design service. For a few months, he will be testing this by leaving sunny Scotland for the peace and quiet of the Tuscan countryside . We wish him all the best and a successful adventure.
