Description
Flat Soma is a design by Volker Latussek: "You had asked for cages for SOMA. I couldn't think of anything better than squeezing the SOMA together (4 x 4 x 2 = 32 >> 27). This is trivial. in order to reduce the volume by up to 5 cubes, I could only make friends with the chosen arrangement (because of the remaining large symmetry). Actually, I only like cuboids. If the lid is a bit thicker, the vertical rotation (purple Z piece) disappears and the puzzle becomes much more interesting. The rotation is only caused by the tolerances and the bevels. I don't like that at all. If you put a ring around the opening, you get the same effect." Additional to the filling solution, Volker provided a "transport" solution, where four pieces stick out, and even more moves need to be made to remove the first piece.
