Description

Eitan's Galaxy

Eitan's Galaxy is a Face Turning Icosahedron, with 20 turning axes, and 2 layers per axis.  The puzzle is a combination of the Radiolarian 3 and the Radiolarian 7, two different cut-depths of the face-turning icosahedron series that Jason Smith pioneered back in the 2010s.

This puzzle has some similarities to Eitan’s Nebula, which also had the Radiolarian 3 cut depth, but its deeper cut was just a Radiolarian 4, also known as Eitan’s Star, where the Galaxy has a Radiolarian 7 cut instead. In my opinion, this gives the Galaxy a much more balanced look, with less difference between the puzzle’s smallest and largest stickers.

This also means the puzzle has a LOT more pieces than any other puzzle I've designed previously.  See Warning #1 below.

To build this puzzle, you will need:

  • The model on this page.

  • 12 x  M3 screws about 16mm long.

  • 12 x #2-56 screws about 1/2" long.  (Apologies for the mixed screw units!)

  • A set of stickers from Chewie’s Custom Puzzles. (link to be added soon)

If you would prefer a fully-assembled and stickered copy of this puzzle, please fill out the form on my website.

See more information about this puzzle at the Twisty Puzzles Forum.

WARNING #1:  I must warn you that this puzzle is not going to be easy to assemble.  It has lots of very small internal pieces, several pairs of chiral parts, and a very complex and particular assembly order that changes depending on how far into the assembly you are. If this doesn’t sound fun to you, I recommend buying an assembled one via my website.

WARNING #2: This puzzle's parts are printed in a grid container, which introduces some risk to the dyeing process, as the grid-container makes it harder to clean the powder away before dyeing the parts. The i.Materialise team wants me to make it clear that they cannot guarantee the parts will be completely black.  (Though my results so far have been awesome!)
