The weekend is coming closer, but first: let us show you our newest 3D printed entries. Happy Friday everyone!
SOHEEB KHAN made this lovely action figure of one of his character, 3D printed in polyamide. “i.materialise has done a fantastic job with the details and the result is beyond my expectation.”
British designer Caroline Saunders made a contemporary and abstract pendant for a necklace. She printed ‘Bird tree’ in silver with a high gloss finish.
The last design we want to show you is ‘Bijoux sur mesure‘ who prints -as the name says- customized jewelry. This ‘lightning’ ring is printed in silver with a high gloss finish.

Check out the winners of the Valentine Challenge
We had so many entries for the Valentine Challenge that it was hard to choose a winner. But: now all the votes are counted there are clearly two winners!
Roberto Trentin got the most votes for his high detailed stainless steel design called ‘Secret message ring’.
Isaie Bloch made a nice design ‘Diamonds are forever’ (where a lot of our feminine collegues fell for) in silver.
We want to congratulate both candidates with their designs. We can’t wait to see the designs coming out of our printers!

It’s the end of the week so that means it’s time for our weekly Featured Friday!
Because we shortened the printing time of polyamide this month, we want to inspire you with some new polyamide models. 3D Materialize Ltd is ready to conquer the world with his 3D printed Samsung Galaxy covers. This one is printed in natural white polyamide.
Community member david made a selection of sculptures based on hand gestures. Below, you can see the well-known victory hand gesture printed in polyamide (of course).
The last design is a 3D printed logo, designed by Erik.

It’s the end of the week and before you start off the weekend…let’s enjoy Featured Friday!
We found a really nice silver ring in our gallery, made by Joost Van Cauwenbergh, finished with a glossy look.
Our second design comes from Maaike van der Horn. She designed a constructionist bracelet in brass gold plated and polished. The design is inspired by modern architecture and its use of complex repetitive geometrical structures. van der Horn: “I am fascinated by how these structures can behave to create buildings and objects that look seemingly organic and unique. They can change their appearance depending on the angle you look at them.”
This bracelet is a perfect example where new techniques like 3D printing has opened up a world of design possibilities: it would be impossible to make using traditional jewellery techniques!
Last but not least: a bronze coin designed by Koenraad Van Daele named ‘The Kiss’.

It’s friday aigain and you know what that means! Check out these gallerie entries and get inspired!
Willem Bossier designed a very nice heart to wear with a necklace. It’s designed in brass gold plated polished. A nice present for a loved one?
And apparently Willem wasn’t the only one designing hearts. André Greiner-Petter made a new version of ‘Heart of Time‘. “I wasn’t satisfied with my first attempt of the heart and looked for inspiration for a new ‘stand alone’ version. A good friend helped me creating this new design.” The heart is printed in polyamide.
Next to his ‘Heart of Time’ André Greiner-Petter also designed ‘Detective Coin’ in bronze, natural polished. “I’m a big fan of the ‘Detective Conan’ anime series (‘Case Closed’). On the back of this coin you can see the original Japanese symbols (called ‘katakana’) of the name ‘Conan’. He likes to say: ‘There is only one truth,’ so I used this sentence on one side of the coin. I modeled this for a good friend and design

What’s more special than 3D printing a gift for a wedding anniversary? Alice Salmon created, with her father, a high detailed stainless steel design. the coin represents the perfect blend of two families: you can clearly see the print of both Family Crests.
Alice Salmon: “Salmon is the name of my fatherand Kallenthe name of my mother. They are together since more than 40 years. My father offered the coin to my mother and is planning to give one to each of his children (we are four) because he was very pleased by the result and the very tiny details.”

It’s friday and you all know what that means. This week, polyamide is reclaiming its crown for all featured designs. Enjoy!
Recently, the first Drone Games competition was hosted at the Groupon San Francisco offices. Drone Games is a NodeCopter-Style programming competition powered by drones and JavaScript. Hackers will receive one Parrot AR Drone 2.0 so they can work on their project. The day of the Games, hackers will get a chance to present their work to other attendees and judges. Winners and runner ups received some really cool 3D printed medals, designed in Tinkercad by Pekka Salokannel.

Meet the designer: Dizingof
He is probably one the most well-known 3D designers in the 3D community and made Thingiverse his second home with more than 160 free 3D designs. Now it’s time to meet the man behind Dizingof: Asher Nahmias from Tel-Aviv, Israel.
When did you start being interested in design?
Asher Nahmias: «Basically I’m self-thought. I’ve started learning design around September 2009 when I run into a Dutch start up that offered a 3d printing service. It seemed very exciting to learn how to transform ideas and concepts into real objects. I published some of my concepts on my Youtube channel – back then they were mainly ‘cool’ accessories for iDevices.»
«I then moved to learning every piece of 3d tool/software that I could find and practically did R&D into anything 3D.. surfaces, meshes construction and augmentation etc..
I had this notion that once I have the knowledge to master mesh creation and surface manipulation I could probably design anything I set my mind to or when creativity juices

Happy Friday! The holidays are getting closer and the gallery is getting more colorful: check out the newest designs.
The first design we want to show you is from George Hlavacs. He designed the Higgs Boson Necklace in gold plated and polished brass. Hlavacs: ‘Wearing this beautiful jewelry will not only make you feel more attractive. It is also a a statement to trigger people to pay attention to small fascinating things which are invisible to our eyes, but determine our life so fundamentally. The picture you see is not a render, but the real product. This production technique is just unbelievable accurate.”
We love the colors Mark Bloomfield uses for his designs. This time he designed some Flower Machine Charms in polyamide: all the flowers can spin, so it’s perfect for some 21st century stress relief!

Design 3D Printed Glasses with Tinkercad
It’s always hard to look for some nice glasses, but now people can customize and 3D print them to find that desired look. Pekka Salokannel (Technical Artist at Tinkercad) took the lead and put his 3D printed glasses online. (more…)
