How The Tripods come alive with 3D printing
Do you know ‘The Tripods’? Well, Martin – one of our German customers – surely does. As a long time fan of the BBC science fiction series, broadcasted in the 1980s, he has just printed his childhood dream through i.materialise. That dream was owning a model of a Tripod.

Patrick Jouin: La substance du design
From February 17 until May 24, 2010, the Centre Pompidou in Paris will present a retrospective of the work of Patrick Jouin. The retrospective includes the Solid Collection and the One_Shot.MGX collapsable stool, produced via revolutionary .MGX 3D printing techniques.
In addition, Patrick Jouin”s latest creation with .MGX will be unveiled. Inspired by both the One_Shot.MGX stool and flower blossoms found in nature, his new lamp features a shade which collapses and expands to release or contain light. As with the One_Shot.MGX, the shade is printed as a single piece, including hinges that in one simple movement, transform the shade from a bud to a blossom.

Bookend design challenge [Open now] Deadline extended
Hello everyone,
I am pleased to announce that we are launching a design challenge on Blenderartists.
Check this website for more information.
(c) copyright Blender Foundation | www.yofrankie.org
The 3 winners, who will be selected by our jury, will get a unique bookend set, based on their design.
You are able submit your design until Monday, February 22nd (GMT +1).
Good luck, we hope to see your design 3Dprinted!
UPDATE:
We have received several requests to extend the deadline for the challenge and decided to give 4 extra days for everyone to design and make their entries.
Shipping costs for Europe are lowered
Delivery to countries of the European Union has become a lot cheaper. i.materialise swapped from express service delivery to standard delivery. Standard delivery means road transport and thus in some cases 1 or 2 days slower than the express delivery but in favor of your wallet.
I”ve received feedback from the customers that they would prefer to wait a bit longer than to pay for fast delivery.
You will find now that the transport starts from 8 euro instead of the earlier 12 euro. The savings are bigger for the higher transport costs.
