The 3 winners, who will be selected by our jury, will get a unique bookend set, based on their design.
You are able submit your design until Monday, February 22nd (GMT +1).
Good luck, we hope to see your design 3Dprinted!
UPDATE:
We have received several requests to extend the deadline for the challenge and decided to give 4 extra days for everyone to design and make their entries.
Shipping costs for Europe are lowered
Delivery to countries of the European Union has become a lot cheaper. i.materialise swapped from express service delivery to standard delivery. Standard delivery means road transport and thus in some cases 1 or 2 days slower than the express delivery but in favor of your wallet.
I”ve received feedback from the customers that they would prefer to wait a bit longer than to pay for fast delivery.
You will find now that the transport starts from 8 euro instead of the earlier 12 euro. The savings are bigger for the higher transport costs.

i.materialise team wishes everyone Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We have a lot of things planned for 2010, and aim to continue making 3D printing as easy as printing on paper. We are looking forward to seeing more of your creations being materialized with i.materialise. Happy Holidays! i.materialise team
Why i.materialise was born
1985. For the first time I was invited to my girlfriend”s parents house and had to find an original gift for the Christmas party. Pondering many items to shop for, I could not find anything that really fitted the occasion. I finally decided to make something myself. Somewhat naive, I risked hitting the limitations of my creativity and skills, but I decided to imitate some artifacts seen on a previous holiday in Spain.
I made a statue of my bird watching girlfriend and her dog with FDM (Fumbling Deposition Modeling), a technique by which you deposit liquid metal paste on a folded wire structure. (No computer involved yet, but a quite similar technique entered the market 9 years later to become the most selling additive manufacturing machine). While most at the party probably were not rating my artistic capacities very high, the gift was enthusiastically accepted.
Even better, nearly 25 years and 3 teenagers later, we have already consumed many coffee machines, washing m
Brussels Girl Geek Dinner #19
Last week, our colleagues at .MGX hosted the 19th edition of the Brussels Girl Geek Dinner. Girl Geek Dinners are events for females who class themselves as girly and geeky. Girl Geeks have a keen interest in technology and enjoy the networking aspect of the events, which are always light hearted and fun. You can read all about past and present Girl Geek Dinners on their official blog. The topic of the #BGGD19 (as referred to on Twitter) was ”How to grow design by using 3D technology”.

The holiday idea
There is a little over a month left until the holiday season, and it is time to start thinking about holiday presents for your loved ones. But what could be a truly awesome holiday gift for someone who is important to you? Well, we came up with a few things that should help you out in making a proper gift. First of all, the gift should be personal, and hopefully something that the other person feels passionate about. Second, on most occasions it is great if you could get something unique, or possibly create something unique, something that can truly transcend your feelings and appreciation of that person you will give it to, whether it’s your boyfriend or your mother. And then the i.materialise-blog was born..
Hello everyone and welcome to the official i.materialise blog. This is your source for all i.materialise related projects, updates, and information on our developments, special offers and contests. We will be posting interesting information related to 3D printing and design here as well.
So, what is i.materialise? i.materialise is a brand new 3D printing service that we are launching in an effort to make 3D printing as easy as printing on paper, simple as that. Basically, with this project we intend to make 3D printing available to everybody who likes to create stuff. We are building on over 20 years of industrial prototyping, tooling and 3D printing experience, and are aiming to bring all of our knowledge to your doorstep. Our selection of materials and finishes is one of the biggest on the market, and we are planning to continuously improve our website, hopefully not without your help 😉
Currently, i.materialise is in the BETA stage and this means that our services are now avai
