Who is (y)our first US ambassador?
Hello, everyone. My name is Becky Scott, and I’m the US ambassador for i.materialise. You can call me Ambassador. Not really — Becky will do just fine.
“What’s a US ambassador?” you ask. I will work with the 3D printing community in the United States, promote i.materialise services to the creative US population (including posts on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and this blog), and help with US-located events.
In keeping with the rest of the team, I’ll tell you a little about myself. I live in San Diego, California and have been fascinated and amazed by 3D printing since I first heard about it several years ago. I think it’s amazing and I hope to eventually do my own designs. Right now, though, I’m a very enthusiastic fan.
I’ve also been involved in online communities for about 15 years, and social media since the early days. My sixth-year anniversary on Twitter is fast approaching! You can find me as @lolagoetz. I have a varied background, having also been a technical project manager, copywriter, and marketing flunky.
I love all types of technology and am somewhat of an early adopter around a lot of things. I’m the one everyone in my family calls when their computer or cell phone or DVR is acting a little crazy. I love figuring out problems and will keep at something until I figure it out (so don’t ask me to fix something and then change your mind, because I will keep at it even after you get tired of it – both a blessing and a curse).
I also enjoy being an amateur photographer – you’ll usually find me behind the camera rather than in front of it. I am trying to do better and actually get IN the photos with my kids, though.
I also love to go fishing. I’ve fished for tuna and yellowtail on short, local trips and longer ones (my longest was an 8 day fishing trip). My husband is an avid fisherman as well, and our boys are just getting big enough to take trout fishing at the lake, or fishing off of the local saltwater piers. There will be many fun trips in our future!
Lastly, I love to connect people with services or other people who can help them. And that’s why I’m most excited about working with i.materialise. They have an incredibly user friendly service, their team is amazing, and they do quality work. It’s my job to inform the 3D printing communities in the US who could most benefit from working with i.materialise, helping them see how many ways the company can help make their designs a reality. I look forward to it!
