The Neo-Artist: Using 3D printing to invent & make art
While we were at the Maker Faire, we had a contest to give away a voucher for our services. Imagine our surprise when it turns out one of the winners is writing a book about teaching artists and makers how to use technology like 3D printing to start a business!
Lincoln Kamm left a career in the animation industry to figure out how to work for himself. After seven years, he is sharing his best tips to help other creatives make a living selling their art, inventions and ideas. He has a Kickstarter page set up to help fund this endeavor. Here’s a quick description from the page:
“The Neo-Artist” is a book that will teach you about the latest in hardware and software for turning your creative ideas into physical objects. It also teaches you how to leverage other aspects of technology to market and sell your work. Whether you haven’t started your business yet, or have been running one for years, there will be lots of information in this book to help you get to the next level of your success and beyond.
The book is slated to contain information about the high-tech tools that are available to artists and inventors, and when it’s the best time to use them. And the author will talk about running a business and how he has made a living doing what he loves to do. Kamm estimates that it will take about 4 months to complete the project and have it ready for public consumption. If you’d like to find out more about the project, visit Kamm’s Kickstarter page for full details.
