How Many Ways Can You Bring an Aardvark to Life?
Meet the Aardvark, a story about persevering with an idea. For sure many of you had various passions when you were kids. Perhaps you even drew pictures of them (back then we were all great artists, weren’t we?).
Paul Lopes was so into his Aardvark that, during his lifetime, he turned it from a sketch on paper into the forms of a stuffed animal, a PVC squeaky toy, a costume, LEGO and now some 3D printed versions. This is what we call passion and perseverance, enabled by the technology available during different moments of his life.
«The original drawing was produced 22 years ago,» says Paul. Since then, he has gained considerable experience with production opportunities, even going for the ‘Made in China’ option. «Afterwards I had some stuffed animals made. A few years later I created the model and had the PVC squeaky toy produced. The toy itself was manufactured in China from my original.»
To make it even more fun, Paul also made a full-size aardvark costume to use at events such as Boston Comic Con. Belgian “LEGO Certified Professional” Dirk Denoyelle helped him add one more type of aardvark to the list and built it out of LEGO pieces.
Inspiring or simply amusing, Paul’s story shows you there’s a whole world of opportunities out there. Everything you need to turn your ideas into reality is right at your fingertips.
