13-year old Ritik wants everyone to wear 3D printed glasses
For a few years now, people in Belgium can raise money for charity during the radioshow ‘Music For Life’. This year, Ritik Mehta, a 13-year old boy from Antwerp with a passion for 3D printing, organizes its own Music For Life-event where he will 3D print glasses for the crowds. The money will go to a charity that helps kids in Africa and Asia to get glasses and see the world as they should.
Ritik, who 3D printed one of his first pairs of glasses with our 3D printing service, has a dream. A big dream. Although he’s only 13 years old, he’s convinced about the possibilities of 3D printing and he wants the world to know.
“Lately I have been 3D printing my own custom glasses. It was my dream to do something with it and now I have found the perfect occasion. On Saturday, the 21st of December, people can come to ‘De Winkelhaak’ in Antwerp, Belgium. Visitors can make a drawing in 2D and then, together with a professional designer, they will create a 3D file. This design will then be printed by a 3D printing expert on the spot so people can take it home the same day.”
“The money people pay for their design and design experience (it will be 50 to 75 euros for a pair) will go to Eyes for The World, a non-profit organisation that delivers children in Asia and Africa glasses.”
i.materialise supports this event and will be happy to give visitors a discount card and we will provide some cool models to show everyone the possibilites with 3D printing.
