Description

I’ve always been fascinated by peculiar shapes that you encounter in nature. We, human beings, are very good in creating our own new shapes and forms, but I think that the most beautiful and complex shapes are still to be found in nature itself.

The trabecular bone lamp is the perfect combination of “medical meets design”. What you see in the design is the internal bone structure. Due to its complex structure, it is only possible to print this design through 3D printing. The part you see is normally 5mm x 5mm x 5mm but in order to make it a useful lamp, I increased the dimensions to 110mm x 110mm x 110mm.

I love seeing peoples’ reactions when I proudly explain that this strange lamp is actually just a part of our body.
