Note:
Silver comes very bright and shiny. The ring displayed is oxidized and hand polished. You can do this yourself using common household bleach. Pour some bleach in a glass bowl, swirl around for a few seconds, remove and rinse. Bleach works very fast. You can also use hard boiled eggs, the sulphur gas given off by a hard boiled egg will oxidize your silver. It takes a couple of eggs (warmer the better) smooshed up in a baggie for this little amount of silver and more time than the bleach. Then of course, you have the pleasure of cleaning the egg off of your piece and polish it partial with a sponge or a towel.
IF the finger turns GREEN from wearing Sterling Silver don’t panic! Silver is Beautiful, however pure silver is too soft and can easily scratch and become damaged, so it is alloyed with copper to make Sterling Silver. Don't panic, this "green finger effect" is a reaction to the copper alloy in the sterling silver specially if you have high body acidity. Soaking the ring for a day or two in a 50/50 mixture of household ammonia and water will take care of the problem and the reaction will stop occurring.
