Description

The Mystic Pendant was originally not in the Mystic Series, a set of puzzles designed by Matt Galla based on the Hexagonal Bipyramid. However, its design was suggested by Evgeniy Grigoriev, and the result was so nice that I decided to retroactively include it in the series. The Mystic Pendant is nearly mechanically equivalent to the Mystic Totem, except that the Mystic Totem has stored cuts present in the internal pieces while the equivalent pieces on the Mystic Pendant do not. Where the Mystic Totem has many instances of internal bandaging, those same internals are exposed on the Mystic Pendant, giving the solver a more fairly presented puzzle. Despite this help, the difficulty of the Mystic Pendant is ultra-extreme and will pose an immense challenge for even the most experienced solvers. Computer simulations suggest that the Mystic Pendant can be solved by expert hands, but there are no known solves of this puzzle to date.

Order this DIY model yourself and you will receive a sinterbox with all 85 pieces needed to build the puzzle. You will also need 12 M3 screws to assemble the puzzle. The screws I used were 12mm long, but any screw length between 8mm and 16mm (inclusive) should work. The stickers for this puzzle are available at Chewie's Custom Stickers.

If you would instead like to receive a fully functional puzzle, please contact me at MattGalla1@gmail.com and I will assemble and sticker a new puzzle to you for an additional $50 plus shipping.

More pictures and a video coming soon!

Disclaimer: the mechanical complexity of the Mystic Pendant requires a print accuracy that may not always be achievable by i.materialise's 3D printing service. While my print from i.materialise was successful, it is possible that slight inaccuracies in the printing process may render the resulting puzzle unplayable. Please order this design at your own risk!
