Description

Golden Rhombuses Puzzle was designed in 1983. In 1984, the Technical University of Eindhoven produced ten ultra-high-quality samples in wood. One of these samples was given as retirement gift to the famous math/computer professor N.G. de Bruin.

The puzzle has a stand and seven pieces, each consisting of some sharp and obtuse golden rhomboids. These rhomboids have rhomus faces with a top angle of 63.43 degrees (=atn(2)). The word "golden" refers to the golden ratio, which can be found everywhere in this geometry.  The object of the puzzle is to assemble the 7 parts into a rhombic triacontahedron (sphere-like object) and [place it on the stand.
