Flip Gears

Description

Flip Gears is a gearing transmission. It is a spin off of the Spherigear Transmission. One of the issues with Spherigear Transmission, is that there is a lot of play in the straight orientation, and a lot of force on small gears in that orientation. Flip Gears solve the issue by laterally shifting the swivel axis. Now, the teeth are strongly intertwined in the straight orientation. As with Spherigear Transmission, also Flip Gears is a solution looking for a problem.

A spherical version can be found in this 1990 patent. (Thanks for the reference, Miguel Macias)
