Description
ETRD++
The ETRD++ is an Edge Turning Rhombic Dodecahedron with two levels of unbandaging. It has 24 turning axes that go through the edges of the puzzle, and it is a jumbling-only puzzle which is notoriously difficult to solve. It has the same axis geometry as the Celtic Cube. It turns very smoothly, and feels solid and robust.
Note that it takes quite a lot of work to assemble and sticker this one, and the first turn of each layer will make you think your puzzle is super-glued together. But once you get that first turn to happen, it is smooth as butter from then on. Silicone spray really helps with this process.
To build this puzzle, you will need:
The model on this page.
24 screws around 5/8" (~16mm) long. This puzzle is designed for #2-56 screws, but M2 screws would probably work as well.
A set of stickers from Chewie’s Custom Puzzles.
If you would prefer a fully-assembled and stickered copy of this puzzle, please fill out the form on my website.
WARNING: This puzzle's parts are printed in a grid container, which introduces some risk to the dyeing process, as the grid-container makes it harder to clean the powder away before dyeing the parts. The i.Materialise team wants me to make it clear that they cannot guarantee the parts will be completely black. (Though my results so far have been awesome!)
