Correct size and tolerance for a press fit attach

Hello,
I’m designing a watch dial to be printed in 3D with your High-Detail Stainless Steel.

For this project I will need to insert small feet (or pin) in small holes, on the dial.

I would like to know if I can make a “press fit” attack and possibly what is the tolerance to have a correct fixing.

Considered that the diameter of a foot will be 0.75mm.

Will the hole have to be 0.75mm too?

Or will it have to be a little wider to allow the insertion of the feet?
Eventually, how much wider?

Thanks!

PS: I add a question: for this kind of product do you this is better High-Detail Stainless Steel or Copper?
Copper is smoother?
Steel is more detailed?

Thank you!

Hello,

We’d recommend looking at the design guide for High Detailed Stainless Steel.

The recommended tolerance between parts that should fit together is around 0.3 mm.

Let us know if this helps .
