Hi I am Edd Bax (MadEdd) from the Netherlands.
I am a designer and specialised employee at Antwerp University, Faculty of Design Sciences, in the model making workshop.
Besides that, I run my own business in 3D design, 3D scanning called CTd by Edd. My workshop is in the former shower area in an obsolete swimming hall.
I design parts for prototyping, art works or educational stuff.
The last thing I ordered are a complete alphabet of small hands for a finger spelling teacher.
Most design are made by Fusion360, but in the Makersbase Breda, where I also am employed, we use Tinkercad, for the kids and starters. I have my own 3D printers: a Prusa MK3s with MMU and an Elegoo Mars Pro 2 resin printer. I order my design when a customer wants a larger amount of prints, or when ordered prints are in a material I can’t print.

Guten Tag, I’m Just from France
I’m industrial engineer and my daily business is to work with stainless steel parts (machining, welding, …).
I’m used to work with Catia, Solidworks and NX.
My wife brought me to i.materialise :slight_smile:
I already printed parts but with SLM process (steel 3d printing)
Right now I’m dealing with some very old cameras for which I need to replace some plastic parts, that’s why I’m here

  • Who are you? I am Arturo Garcia, soon to be owner of the small startup, Paracosm Forge.

  • Where are you from? I have spent nearly all my life in the small lake side city of Hammond IN.

  • What’s your day job? My current day job is a full-time university student. I’ve been one for over ten years now. With that much time I have learned a lot about many things. My startup, is my biggest steps in finally transitioning out of higher education and into full time employment

  • Which 3D modeling software do you use? I am most accustomed to Autodesk Inventor, and some Autodesk AutoCAD 3D modeling software, but can also use simulation-based software like ANSYS Workbench, COMSOL Multiphysics, and Matlab. I do plan to teach myself more freeform 3D modeling software as well such as blender.

  • What brings you to i.materialise? I was looking for potential partners for my business, I am hoping i.materialise will be willing to work with me and be a lifelong business partner.

  • Have you already 3D printed something before? During my time at the university, I have modeled, and 3D printed many items for research purposes with their in-house printers.

  • What kind of products do you make? My company Paracosm Forge, plans to make promotional figurines, and figurine box displays for other small businesses and the creator market. The high customization required for those is necessary.

Hi … I’m Nita Tiberiu from Romania.

It is possible to print an alloy of two metals by this method. For example, copper microspheres with a diameter of 15 microns placed at a distance of 10 microns from each other (in all directions) and to fill space between microspheres with magnesium.

Hi Nita,
Sounds like you are working on an interesting project!
The copper models we are creating are made through the technique of lost wax.
So there is not really control over where which particles will be placed.
Seems you want to micro-3dprint.
There are techniques that work with binder jetting which in principle could use a mix of copper and magnesium, but then there are also boundary conditions that have to be met in order to be able to produce such parts in that technique, of which I am no expert.

Hi I’m Paul and I’ve been 3D printing for exactly five years. I used SolidWorks for six years before I retired and I see 3D printing as the natural development on 3D Virtual CAD. I love graphic design and can see the connection between it and 3D printing. I love the graphic designers of the 1930s and 40s. The work of Tom Purvis in using blocks of colour without shading would be ideal converted into 3D model.
I print for pure enjoyment and don’t sell models. But I display many of the models I print on a kind of window gallery that faces onto the street from my lounge. The intention was to show the technology to anyone who passes by. A lack of response suggests that this means nothing to people. However the young kids (5 to 10) are fascinated and I give out models to them free.

Hallo,

ik ben Michael uit Den Haag en ben verzamelaar van HTM tram modellen in de schaal H0 (1/87).
Het aanbod van modellen is zeer klein en van “infra” modellen is er nagenoeg niets gemaakt dus ben ik zelf aan de slag gegaan.
Ik gebruik Sketchup Pro, Simplify3D en Netfabb om mijn modellen te maken.
Hopelijk kan ik veel gebruik maken van de i.materialise printservice, het is mij goed bevallen!
