Questions about a potential job

I am an abstract artist developing images digitally and thought it might be neat to create a 3D printed version of a piece. Using a tool like Selva3D, I can create a 3D relief based on an uploaded image. It will generate an STL file. If I supply the STL file and the original image JPG would that be sufficient to print a Multicolor+ print. Essentially looking to add a textural relief component to a print and maintain something resembling the original colors. Questions boil down to:

  1. What files/formats do you need?
  2. How large can you print – since it is essentially a 2D print with a relief texture, would it be printed onto a panel of some kind as a back support? (need to hang like a canvas for display in the gallery.)
  3. Can you give me some idea about pricing?

Since I am a total Newbie with limited tech chops in the 3D arena, is tyhere anything I’m not asking that I should know?

thanks!

Al

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. If you want to make an order in multicolor, you need to upload 3 files :
*obj
*mtl
*jpeg

Afterwards, you need to ZIP these files and upload this ZIP file on our website. Please try. Normally, it should work.
More information about the rules to follow for this material, can be found on our website : https://i.materialise.com/en/3d-printing-materials/multicolor-plus/design-guide
And you can upload your 3D-file here to calculate the price of your part :

Have a nice day.
