Hi well… This was my first order with i Mterialise, and im not too happy to be honest…
On a couple of counts.
First main issue… My model was a grouped model following the guidelines in the FAQ… I had 3mm thick support between some of the parts and main model… 2 of these parts are missing… 1 Button and a Rocker switch…
It seems pretty clear they got broke during the cleaning process because I had the black ink job done too and the ink is covering where the parts were… If it had broke during transit the bits would look grey where it broke.
So this is a QA thing after printing, so… not cool. I have placed a support message but Im posting here as well because i dont want this over looked. I need this corrected. And given this is your QA process going wrong I-materialise should be covering the cost to correct this.
The other little issue is layer lines. Im not new to 3D printing, I print at home as well, so I know layer lines is a thing… But in the production print house such as I materialise, the engineer who orientates the parts should be doing so that best reduces the appearance of layer lines across curved parts, instead it appears the engineer has orientated my design to maximise the appearance of layer lines in the curved parts… This is just lazy. Im not sure how deep the printer tub is, (though I did see the machine that was used to print this at TCT yesterday), but if my model was printed just off from vertical the layer lines would have been near invisible.
So, so far for an order that cost just about 130 quid, im not too impressed at all.
After inspection of this, we were going to make slight changes to the design but then put in an order of 10 units… Im not sure I can trust I-materialise enough to provide consistently good prints, if the QA work is as bad as this.
QA = Quality Assurance also known as QI = Quality Inspection…
