Painting Models

I’m new and I want to have a model printed but my question is, does imaterialize paint the model for you or do I have to paint it myself or hire someone?

Hello,

For some materials we offer it is possible to dye or spray paint them. Could you please let me know what material you want your model to be printed in so I can advise you further.

Thank you.

Hi,
I want the model to be printed in Polyamide or multicolor. I’m not sure which is best, but the model will be 4.7 to 5.1 inches in length and it will be an animal so I want to make sure that the paint job will be detailed because of the fur and different shades of color

Hi,

Polyamide prints can provide a uniform color only. So I would advise you full color material multicolor if you want to have different color outputs. Please keep in mind the minimum wall thickness of 1,7 mm and the minimum detail size 0,8 mm. You can upload the model to your profile and make wall thickness analysis to make sure the part is printable: https://i.materialise.com/learn/wall-thickness-analysis

okay thank you. Ive attached this picture as an example of the detail I Want

Almost-as-real-as-it-gets

Can I expect a final product like this?

Hello,

We can perfectly make this item as you show on the picture. The only thing you have to do is send us/upload a 3D-file with color. As my colleague told you before, multicolor is a very fragile material and the wall thickness/min detail size must be respected.

If I wanted to go with a stronger material, do you provide having the model painted or would I have to hire an artist to paint it?

Hello,

We have materials that we paint, like polyamide (1 color). If it isn’t mentioned on our website (color/finishes), then you need to hire an artist to paint it.

Have a nice day.
