Brass or bronze vs. Silver for Christmas Tree Ornament

Hi All,

I am designing a Christmas Tree Ornament and have a question about material selection. In the past I have had great success printing “engraved text” in Antique Silver. The text is 0.5 mm deep, 5.3 mm high and 1.1 mm wide.
Will I get similar results printing in Brass and Bronze? Should I order with Polish or Unpolish? Coating or no coating?
Thanks for your guidance!

Joe

Hi Joe,

For both Brass and Bronze materials we have the same recommendations for text, please see it here:

For embossing or engraving details such as text, we advise you to keep a maximum height/depth-to-width ratio of 1:1. Also, keep in mind the minimum wall thickness of 0.35 mm.

As for finishing , please check the design guides for these materials, you can find the examples of models in different finishings, but still PU coating I would recommend to apply, as without it it will oxidize or tarnish over time.

Best Regards,
Olga

Hi Olga, thanks for the reply.

I will use the same dimensions for Brass and Bronze used for Silver and post the results when printed.

Best Regards,

Joe
