Hi Cristiano,

Designing a screw-thread into your 3D model is not advised because they are always (extremely) fine and detailed. Often, this is outside of the technology’s limitations so printing screw threads won’t be accurate enough and their usage will be limited.

Tapping a screw will be more accurate than designing a screw thread into your 3D model. However, be careful not to damage your model and remember that screwing and unscrewing will only work a few times.

The best alternative to tapping a screw is gluing inserts into the model. When designing, foresee a hole in which the insert will be glued afterward in the 3D print. Doing this, you can use it multiple times and chances of damaging the model are much lower. I hope this answers your question!
Kind regards,
Stephanie

Not True…I print nylon screws and nuts from nylon often and they are as good as the ones in the store. This one printed is actually from petg…I was just testing how it would print in that filament
