A Geological Unit Model

The 3D model was built from CAD data supplied by geology specialists.
I further refined the model and prepped it for 3D printing using ZBrushCore.

The model parts were successfully printed in polyamide MJF material. I with a combination of airbrushing and brush painting, colour was added using acrylic paints.

Great finishing work!
What are the gray ‘plates’ ?

Thanks for the interest. The cylinders represent a pair of reinforced concrete road tunnels going under a river. The hand painting suggesting the segmental tunnel rings used in bored tunnels.

By design, there is a 5x vertical exaggeration, so the cylinders appear as elliptical plates.
ZBrushCore was used to carve out areas, the idea being a sort of x-ray vision effect to see the tunnels below ground. At this time, I only had 1/3 of the model printed. If the other 2/3 are printed, the parts are designed to interlock like a 3D puzzle.

i.materialise made this physical model viable and realised.
