2 rings, 1 choker pendant

Rustic Ring, Leaf Ring inspired by Giger/alien/prometheus, and a Vampire O-ring choker pendant in the same style.

Top item is gloss finish, Bottom two are high gloss finish. I did the “antiquing” myself.

I’m happy with the results and will continue to use i.materialise for prototyping and some orders, I’d love to use you more as doing everything online & automated is great, but sadly your prices for precious metals are rather inflated for repeat orders, especially larger items. “traditional” casting companies can do the exact same thing, including handling STL files, at a much cheaper price.

For example I have a ring that costs ~£33 + VAT each time I’d want it in silver with a gloss finish via i.materialise, but a casting company in the UK’s Birmingham jewellery quarter will do it for ~£13.50 + VAT after a one-off cost of £35 for them to make a mold from the STL file. Other casting houses are similar. The only difference is i.materialise deburr it and put it in a (magnetic?) tumbler, which I don’t think justifies the price difference imo, as I can do that from home fairly cheaply. The price gap is even bigger with other designs, especially my larger pendants (5cm). It’s actually cheaper have them cast in silver at a “traditional” house than it costs to have it done in bronze here. You’re using the exact same production methods, so I’m not quite sure how you justify the current prices.

To be clear, that wasn’t an attack. As I say I’m happy with the results of the first prototypes of my new designs shown above. I’ll continue to use I.materialise for things like this and initial orders, just adding my viewpoint based on my experience with using the wider metal casting community out there. If you want people like myself to use you as a long-term production partner, something might need to be done about those prices, especially for larger jewellery pieces.
