Affordable Stainless Steel 3D prints, new pricing scheme

You can now check you Stainless Steel upload prices directly on our site. Stainless Steel was launched in January with the relatively simple pricing scheme based on volume of the model. Today you don’t need to get your calculator out anymore, just upload your design and you get your price automatically.

The pricing

Up to 5 cm3 model volume : 35$
For every extra cm3 above 5 cm3 till 40 cm3 : 8 $
For every extra cm3 above 40cm3 : 7.5$

Our pricing scheme is meant to encourage models of 5cm3 and larger because we want to encourage you to make bigger things. There is now also extra discount for compact models. The more material you have within the imaginary box around your model, the bigger your discount becomes for the same model volume. So the pricing scheme is the maximum price you will pay. To know the real (discounted) price, upload your design.

Here are 2 examples :

The dice of 20x20x20 mm, has a 7.1 cm3 model volume would cost 26.6 euro/ 37 dollar.

Our beloved and solid TomyTones mascot of 45×39x75mm, 50cm3 weiging 0.360 kg would be yours for 169 euro/237 dollar if it were your design.

Extra info needed ?

Visit our material page for more info on Stainless Steel. The design guide for stainless steel can be found there too.
This is the maximum price you will be paying for your design. If you have a compact model the compactness discount will automatically be substracted from your price.

Examples
a model with a volume of 3 cm3 will cost maximally : price =35 $
a model with a volume of 8 cm3 will cost maximally : price =35 $ + (8-5 ) * 8 $ = 59 $
a model with a volume of 11 cm3 will cost maximally : price =35 $ + (11-5 ) * 8 $ = 83 $
a model with a volume of 45 cm3 will cost maximally : price =35 $ + (40-5 ) * 8 $ + (45-40)*7.5 = 352.5 $

The price is calculated in Dollars first and then converted to Euro for non-US customers. Go out an amaze us with some amazing stainless steel 3D prints.

    Good deal, but …

… as far as I can determine, the online tool calculates the EUR prices as
    Up to 5 cm3 model volume : 25.20 EUR
    For every extra cm3 above 5 cm3 : 8 EUR

whereas your conversion formula would imply something to the effect of
    For every extra cm3 above 5 cm3 : 5.80 EUR

What””s the deal then, please ?

    Dear Ulrich,

I””m not sure whether I understand your question.

The prices in the example above are in dollar.
The online tool calculates first the price in dollar and then converts it to Euro.
So given the current exchange rate of 1.45 dollar/euro, the price for every extra cm3 above 5 cm3 and below 40cm3
    = 8 dollar / 1.45 (dollar/euro)
    = 5.5 EURO per extra cm3

Are you saying that you get the 8 EURO/cm3 in stead of 5.5 Euro/cm3 in our online tool ?
If so, please contact me at contact (@) i.materialise.com to find the cause of this problem.

    Kind Regards,

    Wim Verstraeten

    Hi Ulrich,
Thanks for sending me the file.
After verification, it was clear that there was a misunderstanding.
The online prices for stainless steel are correct and at 5.5 Euro/cm3 at the current currency rate.

It is always good to have someone checking out our pricing :-)
