Sketch to 3D offers you the possibility to create almost anything in 3 steps:
- Upload a sketch of anything you want to have made.
- A designer from GrabCAD will turn it into a 3D model.
- i.materialise will 3D print your design and send it to you.
How it works
1. Upload a sketch of anything you want to have made.
Make your sketch on paper and scan the image, or use drawing software such as Paint or Photoshop. If your design is based on an existing design, you can also take pictures of course. Make sure your sketch is clear and unambiguous. Explain your idea as clearly as possible (in English) so the designer can understand it. Don’t forget to include dimensions! Ideally, show your sketch to someone else and check if they can understand it. Upload your sketch through the form below, add the description, and choose any of our materials.
2. A designer from GrabCAD will turn it into a 3D model.
A GrabCAD designer will pick up your sketch and explanation and start making a 3D model. If anything is unclear, you will receive questions via email. Once the model is ready, you will receive an email with the 3D file and a payment link for the 3D print. You can order directly. You will be billed $75 / 57€ for the 3D modeling by GrabCAD.
3. i.materialise will make your design using 3D printing and send it to you.
If you decide to order the 3D print, we will 3D print it in the material of your choice. To learn more about 3D printing, click here. Delivery time is about 10 business days. There will be a separate charge for the 3D print. The cost depends on the size and material of the model. More information on pricing can be found below.
Pricing of the 3D prints
- A titanium 3D printed ring, such as this one would cost you around $185 / 135€. This price includes the design, titanium 3D print and shipping.
- A 3D printed polyamide bowl such as this one would cost you $275 / 200€ including design, 3D print and shipping.
- A complete lamp of your own design would cost you $274 / 200€ including design, 3D print, shipping, lamp stand and light.
- An architectural model 3D printed in color with a size of 9.1 x 5.9 x 5.9 inch / 23 x 15 x 15 cm would cost you $473 / 345€ including the design, 3D print and shipping.
The design fee of $75 / 57€ covers a 3D printable design of your sketch. We will do all we can for this standard amount. Should your design not be possible for $75 / 57€ we will let you know how much extra a design would cost.
