Description

Replacement body / chassis compatible with Hubsan X4 parts inspired by racing cars / bikes with F1 style side-pods & radiators as well as exposed triangulated chassis members to give it that naked sports bike look. The main flight controller board is exposed through the top panel letting the LEDs on the board shine and also further exaggerating the cyborg prototype style.

NOTE: Chassis only- the white body & arms.

It was designed to fit the components used by the Hubsan X4 H107C or H107D. You can use this frame if, like me you tend to bend / break the arms and are regularly in need of a 'crash pack' replacement body or if you just get the individual components and treat it as a kit build. Important: when buying the components as a kit build, it fits the 8mm motors used in the versions with cameras rather than the 7mm motors in the basic one. It may also work with the components from other drones if the motors are the right size, but the mounting points for the flight controller may be different.

Configuration of my build-

  • Chassis - Polyamide, polished natural white.
  • Covers
  • Top & Bottom panel - Polyamide, polished and Dyed Red.
  • 1x Hubsan X4 H107C PCB Circuit Board Receiver.
  • 4x motor (8mm diameter, 20mm height).
  • 4x propellor (get many replacement sets for crashes!).
  • 8x 3mm ultra bright LED (4 blue in front top & bottom, 4 red in rear top and bottom).
  • 1x 500mAh battery (upgrade from standard battery giving slightly longer flight time approx 8 mins).
  • 1x controller / transmitter.
  • [optional] 2-megapixel camera (upgrade from standard) or FPV camera module. Note- the camera modules require a compatible lower panel especially the FPV version which obviously needs room for an antenna.

IMPORTANT! There were a couple of minor issues with my print which I want to be completely open about- I had a version printed in polished polyamide, there were some issues with fitting and you can see in the photos that there are a couple of splits in the triangulated parts on the front of the arms, this may not happen with your print or may be worse but these are decorative only and not structural parts. The fit of the top and bottom panels was also a little loose, this may be because of the polishing however these parts are covers only so are also not essential. The shape of the LEDs housings had warped on mine, I resolved this by grinding the edge off the LED rather than drilling the frame. I am not sure if you will have the same issues but only the decorative parts are thin to reduce weight as this does need to fly!
