Description

Geometry:

The Whirlpool Cube is a close cousin of my Andromeda Cube. Both are based on the geometry of the pentagonal icositetrahedron, and are jumbling only puzzles. Whirlpool Cube differs from the Andromeda Cube in that the cuts used are conic rather than spherical. This creates a simpler slice pattern on the faces, and allows multiple non-overlapping axes on the same face to turn at the same time.

Please note that the puzzle pieces will come in a sinterbox, which you will need to cut open. The nice thing about this is that you know all the pieces will be there! This also means that it is only available in the basic white material.


Other Items Needed:

Dye: If you want the puzzle to be black, you can dye the pieces yourself with a nylon dye such as RIT or Dylon, or you can have i.materialise dye it for you for an extra charge.

Stickers: Please contact me for the sticker template. If you want professionally cut stickers, I recommend Oliver’s Stickers or Chewie's Custom Stickers.

Screws: Twenty four 12mm M3 pan head screws required, available in hardware stores or on the web.

Springs: 24 springs needed, available in web puzzle shops. I get mine from HK Now Store.


Degree of Difficulty:

Assembly: Easy to assemble.

Solving: Extremely difficult to solve.


Playability:

The Whirlpool Cube turns easily, and the mechanism is stable.
