Description

This bookend was designed for the i.materialise blender contest and created from start to finish using Blender. I wanted a design that used the context to tell a story, was humorous, used the available 8x8x12cm bounding box to its full potential and could not be made using traditional casting methods. I wanted to tell the story of a book so exciting that it couldn't be contained. I decided on pirates as a fun and exciting theme with easily recognizable props like the skull and crossbones flag and wooden leg. I started with a cube for the book and then cut and extruded to end up with the basic model which I then refined and textured using blender 2.49 texture paint tool. Michael
