I am a model maker and I like to build plastic models of planes and tanks in my free of work time. Unfortunately, I do not have much time to build models now but I really wanted to have my own sample of i.materialise prime technology. So, I took my time and designed a cold war era Soviet supersonic fighter MiG - 19 from scratch. I wanted to have this model because this fighter does look very good, and was a predecessor of legendary MiG – 21.

I’ve decided to 3D print this model in polyamide and spray paint it in silver color to resemble the original jet. I have developed a holder which supports the model while stationed. All in all, I am happy with the produced result, but I will probably add more colors to the model on my own. At the moment the whole model is silver, and I want the cockpit and other parts of the jet to be painted in more natural colors.

I am also aware that 3D printing allows building models in one piece with moving parts, and once I have some free time I will start designing something more complicated.
