I was inspired by MGX lamp designs while deciding to 3D print my lamp. Initially I was looking for free non commercial lamp models through various 3D model sharing websites, but I could not find anything worthwhile, so I decided to go for an abstract shape and convert the model into a lamp.

After few hours of hard work I was able to add the lamp fitting to the bottom of a 13 cm diameter sphere, and ensure that the whole lamp shade would be completely function. If you ever think to design your own lamp make sure to think about issues like fire safety and ventilation, all of which you can find under “Build your own lamp” section on this website.

Now that I have 3D printed my own lamp I hope it will bring original light to my apartment.
